The Province has launched its Covid-19 Action Plan for Long Term Care (LTC) Homes.
Premier Doug Ford says it will see personal protective equipment (PPE) delivered to LTC’s within 24 hrs or less.
It also includes plans for all LTC homes in case outbreaks occur and support teams comprised of health sector workers who will deploy to LTC’s at the drop of a hat when needed.
Emergency funding for staff will also start flowing, while cleaning measures will be stepped up.
Ford says this will help fortify ‘the iron ring of protection’ around the homes.
LTC staff will also be limited to working in one home and there will be more testing of residents and staff.
So far, there have been 98 outbreaks at long-term care homes in the Province and 144 residents have died.

We are fortifying an iron ring of protection around our most vulnerable and the people who care for them. Our new, three-point plan will strengthen our existing measures so that Ontarians remain best protected. #COVID19 pic.twitter.com/FDUB9MXyql
