Damage to a house in Clavering is a total loss after a fire claimed the building Wednesday.
South Bruce Peninsula Director of Emergency Services & Fire Chief Normand Beauchamp says crews responded at about 11:40 a.m. to the home on the west side of Highway 6 between Hepworth and Wiarton.
He says both the Sauble and Wiarton Detachments responded along with help from Intertownship Firefighters with a total of about 35 responders on scene.
Beauchamp says one tenant was home when the fire broke out, engulfing the front porch, they escaped out the back door, but unfortunately, a dog died in the fire.
Beachamp says it took close to two hours to get the fire under control and they were on scene for nearly four.
He says the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
Meanwhile, a friend has started a GoFundMe for the family of seven that had been living there. The page says the family lost all of their belongings and will need clothing, shoes, coats, toys, and other items.
