Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is investigating following a call about a distraught man with a firearm.
OPP say the incident happened Wednesday around 8 pm.
The 35-year-old Tay Township man was reported in the area of Concession Road 7 in Adjala-Tosorontio Township.
OPP say he entered a wooded area and was later found by police following a search by specialty units including aviation, the emergency response team and the tactical response unit.
He was then taken to an area hospital for medical assessment.
The man has been charged with assault with a weapon, unauthorised possession of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, pointing a firearm and possession of a firearm or ammunition.
He’s currently being held for a bail hearing.
