The 2020 annual Marine Heritage Festival in Southampton has been cancelled.
In a release, the Marine Heritage Festival Committee says it made the difficult decision to forego this year's event, which was scheduled for July 24-26.
“With the current state of affairs relating to COVID-19, the Committee felt that it was in the best interest for the volunteers, spectators and participants that the festival be cancelled for this year,” the release explains. “We would like to thank our generous sponsors from the community for their continued support, our faithful volunteers for their many hours of time, and to the many participants and spectators who come out each year.”
The Marine Heritage Festival will return in 2021. The date for the festival next year is July 23-25.
