The Province is ramping up efforts to protect the health and safety of frontline workers on two fronts.
Today Minister of Labour, Training and Skills Development Monte McNaughton said invitations have been put out to retired workplace inspectors to come back on the job to ensure all workplaces are safe.
Workers too are invited to call 1-877-202-0008 if they have any current concerns or complaints.
As well, stores that have remained open during the Covid-19 pandemic will close this Friday and Monday to give essential workers a break.
On the testing for Covid-19 front, Premier Doug Ford also says he has no more patience for the lacklustre testing statistics of just 2,000 – 3,000 tests being accomplished per day.
At a minimum, the Premier wants to see 13,000 tests for Covid-19 done per day starting tomorrow (Thurs).
Ford wants to ensure seniors in long term care homes and frontline workers, including police, fire and paramedics are tested alongside members of the public too.
Ford added that people should not travel north to cottage country this Easter Weekend so as not to strain local store shelves and potentially, healthcare services.
