Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) CEO Natalie Bubela says the local fight against Covid-19 is evolving.
In her latest update, Bubela says MAHC is currently preparing for a possible influx of Covid-19 patients in Muskoka.
To fight community spread, Bubela recommends staying home and practising physical distancing, adding that it’s the only way to prevent overwhelming local hospitals.
The CEO says not unlike every hospital in Ontario, MAHC will struggle with a patient surge that’s anticipated to come.
While she says there’s no question the local population has grown in the last couple of weeks, Bubela says MAHC will always serve whoever comes through their doors to the best of their ability.
MAHC Teams are currently looking at innovative ways to change flows in the Emergency Dept. to create separate streams to serve COVID and non-COVID patient needs to protect the safety of all.
And MAHC care providers are exploring virtual care options too, both in hospital and in community primary care, so those who are ill have alternative means to get the care they need without leaving their homes.
“We are so grateful to everyone for their overwhelming support of gifted masks, gowns and gloves, and hand sanitizer,” says Bubela “As well as financial support through donations. Information about this streamlined process and what we are in need of most is on our website for anyone who can help.”
