The Province is helping victims of domestic violence in Muskoka and Parry Sound with some emergency funding.
It’s a response to a recent spike in domestic violence incidents reported by victim services during the Covid-19 crisis.
The one-time funding sees Muskoka Victim Services receive $25,750 and the Parry Sound Victim Crisis Assistance and Referral Service receive $28,500, in addition to their regular funding.
The money will improve access to immediate supports for victims, including extended hotel stays and transportation and meal vouchers via the Victim Quick Response Program Plus.
Norm Miller, MPP for Parry Sound-Muskoka, says the emergency payment will ensure people experiencing domestic violence will get the help they need to stay safe and healthy during this crisis.
