Hanover has released the 2019 Statement of Remuneration for Council.
It cost almost 170 thousand dollars to cover the salaries, per diems, stipends and expenses of Hanover Council last year.
Before expenses that drops to 145 thousand dollars, however once you factor in the stipends for those who sit on external boards that rises to 161 thousand dollars.
Mayor Sue Paterson believes taxpayers are getting good value for their dollar.
She says Hanover Councilors work hard with a strong united desire to serve residents and a drive to continue to move the Town forward.
With new government regulations constantly coming out it is Council’s duty to make sure these new rules are followed while also addressing the needs of residents.
Paterson earned $48,600 dollars, this includes 14 thousand dollars in stipends for sitting on the Westario, Saugeen Valley Conservation as well as the Hanover Police Services Board.
Deputy Mayor Selwyn Hicks earned a total of $23,600 dollars this includes a 2 thousand dollar stipend for sitting on the Hanover Police Services Board.
As for Councilors, they earn 17 thousand dollars each in their base salary, four of the five Councilors also earned per diems averaging about 900 dollars a piece.
