It was a short Saugeen Shores council meeting on Monday but it was a first for the community.
As a rule, electronic meetings are usually not allowed for voting purposes but these are different times and it's being allowed because of the coronavirus and social distancing.
Mayor Luke Charbonneau says it doesn't mean council will revert to regular meetings at this time stating “For now we're convening council when we have to make important decisions.”
He says the public will be informed of any future meetings.
Meanwhile the message is still the same pointing out that cottagers need to stay away right now.
The mayor says there's good reason for that
“Our services are mostly shut down and under strain so we need people……to refrain from travelling to here and everybody here should refrain from travelling out of here. Stay home!”
Charbonneau says the Chief Medical Officer of Health for Canada has already stated the country is coming into “situation critical” in the next couple of weeks and we have to be ready.
