A $5,000 donation has been made to the Manna Food Bank by the Town of Bracebridge.
Public works staff have also helped collect food from grocery stores while Manna volunteers have been unable to as a result of Covid-19.
Sam Robinson, President of the Manna Food Bank, says kudos to the Town for being so supportive.
The donation will assist in keeping shelves stocked for what they expect will be a dramatic increase in those seeking a hands-up.
Mayor Graydon Smith says he is “beyond grateful” for the service the Food Bank provides.
It’s anticipated the number of families seeking support will grow dramatically beyond the 600 families the food bank currently serves.
New measures are also being put in place to reduce or completely eliminate the need for any in-person contact when individuals are collecting their supplies.
