There has been another COVID-19 death in Barrie.
The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU) confirmed on Saturday afternoon that a man in his 70s from Alberta, who was being treated at the hospital for the virus has died.
The victim was in close contact with another patient at RVH, who died on March 11th, and whose death was later attributed to COVID-19.
Health officials are urging everyone to follow social distancing recommendations and follow public health measures to flatten the curve of this disease.
The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit currently has 9 confirmed cases of COVID-19 including 2 hospitalizations and 2 deaths.
To date, eight cases either have history of travel to an affected area or are a close contact of a case.
One case’s source of infection is currently under investigation.
