The Province of Ontario is making changes to ensure the delivery of goods to stores in addition to steps being taken by retail business leaders.
Today Premier Doug Ford spoke with the Retail Council of Canada and CEOs from across the retail industry about COVID-19’s effects on business.
Ford says their number one concern is the health and well being of employees and the public.
Measures being stepped up at stores across Ontario include more cleaning, additions to sick leave and guidance for employees, as well as reductions of in-store hours and more pick-up options for customers.
In order to provide more flexibility needed for deliveries of goods from warehouses to stores, Ford says the Province will be temporarily changing Provincial noise bylaws to allow deliveries to happen 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
And then there was a plea from the Premier about some customer behaviour being seen throughout the province.
Ford says the supply chain is doing good currently, despite the panic buying and extra strain on the system brought upon it by the social effects of COVID-19.
