The Ministry of Health has confirmed the first case of COVID-19 in the Huron-Perth region, according to information provided on its twice-daily online update service.
The patient is self-isolating at home. The transmission — travel-related, through close contact or community contact — of how the person contracted the virus is still pending.
Twenty-two new cases of the new coronavirus in Ontario were confirmed positive Saturday morning by provicial health officials.
There have been 6,646 tests done on patients in the province to date for the virus. Of those, 5,606 have come back negative, 939 remain under investigation and 101 have been confirmed positive — five of those have already recovered.
In Grey Bruce, there have not been any confirmed cases as of yet.
