The Municipality of West Grey is taking its own unique approach to tackling the issue of environmental sustainability.
Mayor Christine Robinson says climate change and environmental responsibility are priorities for West Grey Council.
So much so, that she says the Council has established a Sustainability Committee made up by passionate and dedicated volunteers who meet monthly to strategize on important matters of climate change and waste management.
Still in its infancy stage, she says this committee has already identified a robust work plan for 2020 to help address some of the goal of good environmental stewardship.
Whether it be purchasing policies, examining the fleet West Grey uses or the material used, Robinson says the Municipality is trying to lessen its impact on climate change.
Robinson calls this an important issue and says Council is behind supporting strategies to address these issues.
Recently, West Grey threw its support behind a Grey Highlands resolution calling on the Province to support a motion that a Select Committee on climate change be established immediately to develop a comprehensive provincial strategy and action plan to address climate change related threats to society.
