With Spring just around the corner West Grey is eager to begin work on the 1.4 million dollar Lantz Bridge enhancement project located northwest of Durham. (Grey Road 3 and Concession 10 in the former Normandy Twp.)
However, before this can happen the municipality is still awaiting funding approval from the Federal government.
The 1.4 million dollar project is to be a shared venture with the Federal Government covering $698,500, the Provincial government $465,620 and West Grey financing the remaining $232,880.
The Province confirmed its commitment to the project last Summer, it is now a matter of awaiting Federal funding approval.
The project says Mayor Christine Robinson involves enhancing the bridge from a single lane to a double lane.
Robinson calls it a very important project as it will increase safety and improve traffic flow.
Robinson is optimistic that the Federal approval and grant dollars will flow through soon, as she says the municipality is excited and ready to get started.
The timeline on the project is yet to be determined as West Grey awaits word from the Federal government.
Robinson says there is much to be done including putting all the plans in place for the project.
With 90 bridges throughout West Grey, Robinson says it always exciting when infrastructure grant dollars flow through for bridges.
If word does not come soon from the Federal government, West Grey will reach out directly to inquire on the Lantz Bridge grant application status.
