Saugeen Shores CAO David Smith has answered the concerns that some residents have on the approval process for the Cedar Crescent Village, going forward.
The CAO presented a report to the Committee of the Whole on the waterfront revitalization project, and how future town approvals should be handled.
We told you yesterday of citizen John Mann's address to councillors stating he feared future decisions on the project were going to be made by the CAO and town staff.
Smith says that is “absolutely false.”
He says all major decisions will still be made by council.
Smith says in his report there are some issues that are administrative in nature but have clear guidelines and should not be unreasonably withheld waiting for council's approval.
He says “We manage dozens and dozens of leases on a regular basis. That's what we do.”
Council has approved a recommendation that states generally, all major decisions will be made by council but staff will be allowed to oversee and tweak minor issues, but those too could come before council if deemed necessary.
