The Town of Hanover is entering into a memorandum of understanding with the Hanover Neustadt Snowmobile Club. This will provide club members with direct access to fuel.
The new agreement will allow the Snowmobile Club to legally enter, establish, groom, maintain, sign and use a portion of municipal lands to enter Hanover along the South Line.
With over 500 members, Hanover Neustadt Snow Club spokesperson Rick Carrier says this is a win-win for all involved.
Carrier says the trail access into Hanover could potentially bring half a million dollars in local revenue dollars.
Hanover CAO Brian Tocheri agrees that the agreement will provide economic spin-offs and potential tourism dollars locally.
More importantly, Tocheri says the trail access into Hanover will provide snowmobilers with a more direct safe route to fuel sources.
With winter soon to draw to a close, the Town has granted temporary access permission to the Snowmobile Club and will firm up a permanent Memorandum of Understanding this Spring to establish a snowmobile route across municipal lands.
The Hanover Neustadt Snowmobile Club currently boasts 135 km of trails.
