The head of the South Bruce Grey Health Centre (SBGHC), Michael Barrett is confident the centre's cluster of hospitals is ready for any reports on Coronavirus cases in the region.
Barrett tells the latest meeting of the Centre's Board of Directors (FEB 5), with the number of cases globally growing and changing by the hour, all of the hospitals within the centre are checking and double-checking to make sure equipment and staff are prepared.
He says they're making sure they have the proper personal protective equipment for its staff, such as gowns, gloves, face shields and masks.
Barrett says “A mask fit testing blitz is being carried out at all four sites,” to make sure staff have proper fitting masks.
The current compliance rate is 70% but he expects that number to increase in the days ahead.
In addition, negative Pressure Rooms are being re-checked and calibrated by maintenance staff.
Barrett says such a room would house a suspected coronavirus patient and the air in the room would be exhausted to the outside so it doesn't circulate back into the hospital.
There have been no coronavirus patients reported at any of the four sites in Walkerton, Kincardine, Chesley or Durham.
