Provincial Police requested a hold and secure at a South Bruce Peninsula school Monday afternoon, after a caller reported they heard noises similar to a firearm nearby.
Grey Bruce OPP say they were called to an open field directly north of Peninsula Shores District School in Wiarton at 1:13 p.m. Monday, when a called reported they heard noises similar to a firearm and saw a person run away from the area, possibly with a firearm.
Police officers attended the scene and set up containment of the surrounding area.
Grey Bruce OPP say they were able to confirm the noises heard by the caller were firecrackers and that no firearm was involved in the incident.
