Another teachers union took part in province-wide job action today.
Over 100 teachers could be found picketing in front of St.Mary's High School in Owen Sound throughout the day.
The Ontario English Catholic Teachers' Association called for the job action which is impacting schools under the Bruce-Grey Catholic School Board.
Four schools including St.Mary's took part in today's job action.
St.Tersa's in Walkerton, St.Joesph's in Saugeen Shores and St.Anthory's in Kincardine saw picket lines and closures.
The concerns by the OECTA are similar to other teachers unions, they want a better deal with the province with fewer cuts.
The cuts being protested include class size, mandatory e-learning and the elimination of the Local Priorities Fund which saw boosts to special education staff as well as support for special needs students and at-risk students.
Deb Carter, Secondary President for the OECTA for Bruce-Grey says that the support from parents is encouraging.
“It reinforces what we are doing, Carter says. “We recognize it can be difficult for some of our parents but they do support us, they see what we are standing up for is a valuable fight.”
This is the latest in a series of job actions from across the province including job action last week that impacted the Bluewater District School.
