Brockton Council is considering increasing Building Permit Fees, but before doing so, the Municipality is holding a public meeting on the matter on December 17th at 7 pm.
Mayor Chris Peabody says Brockton welcomes citizen input on the matter, particularly developers.
Peabody calls it a delicate balancing act of keeping pace with actual costs while ensuring Brockton remains developer friendly.
According to Peabody, even with the proposed increases, Brockton's building permits will remain lower than many neighbouring municipalities.
He says the goal is to keep building permit fees attractive in order to encourage development within Brockton while ensuring the fees cover the actual expenses in order to ensure these building permit fee costs are not downloaded on taxpayers.
Peabody encourages all those interested to attend the December 17th Public Meeting which will take place at 7 pm at the Bruce County Administration Building in Walkerton.
Anyone wanting to obtain a copy of the proposed fee increases can do so by contacting the Brockton Municipal Office.
Individuals interested in addressing Council or making a submission on this item are encouraged to registering with the Municipality as a delegation by December 9th.
