Unemployment rates in the Stratford- Bruce Peninsula Economic Region has decreased to just 2.4%.
This is only the third time since January 2001 that the unemployment rate in the region has fallen below 3%, according to a release from the Four County Labour Market Planning Board.
Previously the rate dropped to 2.8% in July of 2001 and to 2.9% in July 2017.
According to the Labour Market Planning Board release, the region lost 400 full-time jobs but gained 600 part-time positions.
The release says that the biggest job gains are in the construction sector which saw a jump of 1,100 positions and in the utility sector with 600 new jobs.
On the other side of that coin, the services-producing sector saw a loss of 2,500 jobs overall.
The largest of these losses were in information, culture and recreation with 900 positions lost.
The provincial unemployment rate for last month was down half a percent to 4.9%.
The release says that the 2.4% rate of Stratford-Bruce Peninsula is the lowest in the province.
