It's Hockey Weekend in Walkerton and the commnity is encouraged to come out and support the Walkerton Pee Wee Boys win the Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup.
The Good Deeds Cup comes with a 100 thousand dollar donation to the charity of their choice.
Over the next three days the Pee Wees are hosting fundraisers both on and off the ice with all proceeds going towards the Residential Hospice of Grey Bruce build project that will be located in Walkerton.
Pee Wee Coach Scott Bowman says this is a cause all the Pee Wee boys can rally behind.
The fun kicks off this evening with a Chuck-A-Puck contest during the Hawks Game.
You can purchase a puck for $2 bucks and then give it a toss. The puck closest to the center line will receive half of the winnings with the remainder going to the local hospice project.
On Saturday evening during another Hawks Game there will be a Hockey Socks for Hospice event. (Game time is 9:30 pm.)
This will be followed by a Donation Breakfast in the arena on Sunday, which will be served by the Pee Wees.
This is the first Hockey Weekend in Walkerton the municipality has hosted.
Bowman credits Walkerton Minor Hockey for allowing the Pee Wee Boys to piggyback on this Hockey Weekend in Walkerton event to hold their Good Deeds fundraisers for the new hospice built project.
The Walkerton Pee Wee Boys Rep is one of many Pee Wee teams across Canada competing in the Good Deeds Cup.
The goal of the Good Deeds Cup is to inspire young Canadians to do good by transforming the positive values learned through hockey into Good Deeds within their communities.Â
Bowman says the ultimate goal is to develop hockey players both on and off the ice.
Bowman encourages the public to come out to one of the hockey games this weekend, cheer on the players and participate in the fundraisers.
