It was a harbinger of things to come when Saugeen Shores council met.
It was like a dress rehearsal for a meeting coming up on September 3rd that will be dedicated to this subject.
However at Monday's council meeting, three people spoke during the Open Forum portion and a fourth person, Melanie Reist, was a recognized delegation on the same subject.
Reist, a lifelong seasonal resident, is concerned about what she describes as undue haste to move forward with the project.
She says, “The magnitude of this proposal,” has caught many people by surprise.
Reist says, although there is a public meeting on the subject September 3rd, “There doesn't seem to be a rationale for why there hasn't been consultation up to this point.”
Reist says she will be at the public meeting the day after Labour Day.
She says there are some aspects of the plan she thinks are good but there are some that concern her such as the size of the project and what it will do to the ambiance of the beach.
The proposed multi-million-dollar restoration will include things such as a full restaurant; a Convention Room, a Sunset viewing Tower and in the winter, a skating rink.
The September 3rd meeting will be held at the Rotary Hall in the Plex and the general public will be invited to speak.
Developer Pier Donnini will make a presentation as well.
The meeting will begin at 6:30pm.
