It was a great way for two companies to start the Canada Day Holiday weekend.
The official opening came with not one, but two ribbon cutting ceremonies on June 28th.
Both are suppliers to Bruce Power but their products and services can be used by the entire community.
Vice President of Work Authority Mark Voght says his company is a full service safety footwear and workwear retail business but has been dealing with Bruce Power for years, through its mobile services.
He says this is their 41st retail store but only the first where they've teamed up with Levitt-Safety.
Voght describes the Port Elgin venue is a pilot project and its success will dictate how both companies expand in the future.
President of Levitt-Safety Bruce Levitt says their training centre next to Work Authority will be open to everyone at Bruce Power and in the community at large, where construction is booming.
Levitt says they'll be offering courses on how to work safely at high heights when building single and high density residential accommodations.
In addition, his company will be presenting first aid courses which he believes everyone should be taking.
Bruce Power President and CEO Mike Rencheck says “We look forward to Levitt-Safety and Work Authority offering these same (safety) services to the community, and achieving success with their new retail outlet, and we are happy to see another nuclear supplier partner invest in our local communities.”
