The Ontario Junior B Lacrosse Regular Season concluded Monday & the post season is now underway.
In Owen Sound, the Junior NorthStars are the underdogs as they meet the Hamilton Bengals in a best of 5 Western Conference Quarterfinal which starts Saturday at Hamilton.
Game 2 is Sunday afternoon at 2 pm at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre.
The Bengals finished 3rd in the overall standings with a mark of 15-4 & 1.
Two of their victories were head-to-head with the NorthStars winning 11-6 in Owen Sound on May 11th & 15-2 May 26th at Hamilton.
In spite of that, Owen Sound won 4 of their last 5 games and 7 of their last 9 to finish the season 6th in the West and hit the playoffs with some momentum.
Meanwhile, the Owen Sound Bug Juice NorthStars also have a pair of games this weekend.
The Senior NorthStars go home & home with the league leading Oakville Titans this weekend; Saturday night at 7 at the Bayshore & then Sunday night at 7 in Oakville.
Oakville is 9 & 1 including a season opening 15-6 win at home against the NorthStars May 5th.
For Owen Sound, after starting the year with back to back losses, they’ve won 6 of their last 7 and have a 4 game win streak going into Saturday’s game.
It’s notable that in the 6 team Ontario Senior Lacrosse League, the Bug Juicers have beaten everybody………except Oakville.
