Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “.
Last weekend in the Greater Toronto Area, there was a lot of action for Girls Hockey with the Provincial Championships.
Five teams from our broadcast region returned from the various tournaments with Gold or Silver medals.
In the Atom Girls Championship Final, the Owen Sound Ice Hawks & Chatsworth girls went all the way to Toronto to face each other and then decided if they were going to go that far they may as well play all day…and they did with the Ice Hawks squeaking a 2-1 victory in the 5th overtime on a goal by Shailan Miller.
There was a silver medal in the Novice Division for the Owen Sound Shannon Deckers of Remax Ice Hawks as they were edged 3-2 by the Lucan Irish
And the Bantam Championship was an All-Bruce County affair as the Saugeen Shores Remax Land Exchange Storm blanked the Kincardine Kinucks 2-0 in the Championship Game.
Well done, girls. Now, it’s the Boys turn.
The Ontario Hockey Federation Atom Championship is being conducted in Kapuskasing with the Owen Sound
Leeder & Associates Jr. Attack representing the OMHA,
Can the boys duplicate what the Girls in Owen Sound, Saugeen Shores, Chatsworth & Kincardine did ?
I’m Fred Wallace
