The development of a 39-unit apartment building in Owen Sound is one step closer to reality.
At its meeting on Monday Owen Sound City Council approved a site plan for the six storey complex at 297 18th Street East, just south of the Bayshore Community Centre.
According to a report by community planner Margaret Potter, the lot has sat vacant for a number of years.
The development will include a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments with 25 per cent of the units fully accessible.
In a past interview with Bayshore Broadcasting News, Giorgio Heidary of Burlington-based Wealth Management Strategy says the company plants to market the units as luxury rental suites.
The original planned name for the apartment complex was Bayshore Terrace Luxury Rentals, but it will now be known as Georgian Landing Luxury Living.
Heidary expects construction on the new apartments to be complete in late 2019.
