It was a landslide victory for Sue Paterson who will remain at the helm of Hanover as mayor for her second term.
Paterson easily defeated her opponent Mary Winkler with 1,767 votes over Winkler’s 818.
Selwyn Hicks will also get to keep his job as Deputy Mayor, but his race was much closer.
He narrowly defeated his rival former CAO Bill Roberts by 93 votes. (1,315 votes for Hicks, 1,222 for Roberts.)
As for the race for councilor, Steve Fitzsimmons is the only familiar face who will return this December. (1,213)
Four new faces will join him, Brandon Koebel (1,821), Dave Hocking (1,177), Warren Dickert (1,174) and Harold Fleet (1,467)
Paterson says her first order of business will be getting her new council up to speed.
After that, Paterson wants Council to work on a refresh of the Strategic Plan.
Another priority for Paterson, to continue to move Hanover forward building upon the strengths of the community
Voter participation was at 48.6 percent for Hanover.
This is down from 2014 when the Town boasted one of its highest voter turn outs in years at 56%.(used vote by mail)
The 24 hour extension in voting resulted in an extra 156 votes being cast on Tuesday.
Incumbents Rick Hopkins, Peter Hambly, Ed King and Hazel Pratt-Paige were unsuccessful in their bid to return to council.
There were 11 people in total vying for the 5 council positions.
