Come the New Year, South Bruce Peninsula will have a new curbside garbage collection provider.
At a regular council meeting on July 17th, council authorized the awarding of the contract to Waste Management of Canada Corporation, beginning January 1, 2019 and continuing to December 31, 2021.
According to a staff report, Waste Management Canada's bid price for 2019 is a nominal decrease from 2018 and the prices for 2020 and 2021 represent an increase of 2% per year for the 3-year term.
Total cost of the contract is just over one-million-two-hundred-and-eleven-thousand. ($1,211,000)
The only other bid that came in was from Miller Waste Systems–the current garbage pickup provider for the municipality which came in just over $50,000 more expensive than the winning bid.
