Saugeen Shores is getting an Integrity Commissioner and it’s the same one that was appointed by Bruce County at the beginning of this year.
At its April 9th meeting, Committee of the Whole agreed to appoint Harold G. Elston.
According to a staff report, Elston will be responsible “to investigate complaints respecting alleged breaches of the Code (of Conduct.)”
Elston, a lawyer from Collingwood, has experience in the field or as a third-party investigator on workplace violence and harassment cases.
Elston will charge $250 an hour for his services plus 50-cents per kilometer for travel.
However, there is no retainer fee so the municipality will be charged only when his services are needed.
A bylaw appointing the Integrity Commissioner will come up at a future meeting of council.
