Owen Sound District Secondary School competed in OFSAA at the Laurentian Trails in Sudbury Feb 22nd – 23rd.
There were over 800 skiers and 21 school teams in attendance, including para-athletes.
The eighteen OSDSS athletes skied very well in difficult and icy conditions!
On day one the athletes skied a free skate individual start. 178 junior girls raced 4 km and the OSDSS team placed 7th in the province! Our top racers were Lila Yuhasz-Bell in 13th in a time of 11:09.9 and Janna Wardell was 34th in a time of 11:57.6.
The junior boys raced 5 km and our top finisher was Joel Zandvleit who placed 25th in a time of 14:56.7.
The OSDSS senior girls’ team placed 10th, in a 5km course with Colleen Beck 7th in a time of 15:04.9 and Sarah Sloss 45th in a time of 17:41.4.
The senior boys team placed 9th in a 6 km race with Dylan Beck 6th in a time of 15:48.9 and Wes Schlenker 18th in a time of 16:45.9.
On day two all teams raced an 800 m relay. Our junior girls finished 7th, senior girls 9th and senior boys 7th.
