Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “.
It’s been a great week for Bluewater Athletics with Championship Games in Boys Volleyball & Girls Basketball.
The Sacred Heart Crusaders hosted the Boys Volleyball Playdown on Tuesday at Walkerton.
In Senior, the Crusaders weren’t the best hosts, defeating the Owen Sound District Wolves 3 games to 1 in the Final.
Because of the difference in school size, bit the Crusaders and Wolves advance to their respective CWOSSA Playdowns next week.
In the Junior division, the St Mary’s Mustangs came away with the championship, scoring a 3-1 victory over the Walkerton Riverhawks in the final
The Junior Mustangs now advance to the CWOSSA ” AA ” Tournament at Holy Trinity.
Meanwhile, the Bluewater Girls Basketball Championship were conducted at Owen Sound District Secondary School on Wednesday.
The Kincardine District Lady Knights won the Senior title with a 39-30 win over OSDSS
Kincardine, the defending CWOSSA Champions, will host the ” A ” tournament next Friday & Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Walkerton Junior Lady Riverhawks continued an excellent season with a 41-24 win over St Mary’s Mustangs to take the Bluewater crown.
That victory means the Junior Lady Riverhawks also qualified for the CWOSSA ” A ” tournament to be staged at Walkerton and Kincardine.
One final note on a somber day in Bluewater Athletics, we wish the St Mary’s Mustangs Football Club only the best today as they have a CWOSSA Playoff game set for Monday at 12 noon in Victoria Park in Owen Sound.
I’m Fred Wallace
