Hanover will soon have a new veterinary hospital.
Dr. Donna Curtin can hardly wait to break ground on the new veterinary hospital which will be two and a half times larger than the current facility.
The 49 hundred square foot facility will boast five examination rooms and additional space that will allow the clinic to house dogs and cats separately which will reduce stress for the animals.
Curtin says they have outgrown their current 19 hundred square foot facility that only houses two examination rooms.
She says the additional space will allow the veterinary hospital to take on more cases which will also lead to new staff hires.
Curtin expects the shovel to hit the ground by late September or October with a completion date scheduled for Spring.
In order to make the Spring completion date, the footings will be poured and the building will be closed in this Fall with all the interior work taking place over the winter months.
This is a shared project between Curtin and her three partners Dr. Kevin Kieffer, Dr. Ben Mighton and Dr. Robyn Thompson.
As the only veterinary hospital in Hanover, Curtin says there is a high demand for their service.
She says people love their pets and want to make sure they have the best care possible.
Hanover Council has passed the necessary bylaw to authorize the rezoning of lands on 18th Avenue in the Industrial Park to permit a veterinary clinic build project to take place.
