Lucknow’s 9th annual Music In The Fields festival is underway.
The country music festival began Thursday with a performance by Meghan Patrick which festival Marketing Director Steve Neeb says had a bigger opening night turnout than ever at about 2,500 people.
Neeb says about 90 per cent of the campsites at the festival grounds, called Graceland are booked up, but there are still tickets and a few sites left.
This year’s lineup includes American country star Jake Owen, and numerous Canadians in honour of the country’s 150th. They include Tim Hicks, Tom Cochrane with Red Rider, Cold Creek County, The Washboard Union, River Town Saints, Alee and Genevieve Fisher.
Neeb says there are plenty of food and merchandise vendors there and plenty going on at the Sepoy Saloon. New this year are local craft breweries Cowbell Brewing, Neustadt Springs Brewery and MacLean’s Ales as well as Pelee Island Winery.
Neeb says it is truly a community event. The Lucknow and District Kinsmen and a volunteer crew of about 600 manage the weekend. All of the proceeds go to charity. Over the life of the event, distributions have now reached over $1million.
Friday: CCMA winner Tim Hicks (You may know his breakout song “Get By”) Cold Creek County will play their hits including “Beer Weather” and London Ontario’s Genevieve Fisher will play Friday.
Saturday’s lineup features ACM winner Jake Owen, known for hits such as “Barefoot Blue Jean Night,” “Anywhere With You,” and “American Country Love Song.”
Also playing Saturday are Tom Cochrane, Washboard Union, River Town Saints, and rising star Alee.
Festival Passes cost $150. There are single day passes for Saturday only. You can buy them at Ticket Scene. https://www.ticketscene.ca/mitf/
