Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “.
Comparatively speaking, this is a rather quiet weekend for lacrosse in Owen Sound.
The Junior B NorthStars host the Orangeville Northmen in a divisional matchup tonight while the Senior NorthStars have the weekend off.
The visitors tonight, the Northmen, lead the OLA Midwest Division while Owen Sound is locked in a battle for a Wild Card spot in the Western Conference.
Owen Sound’s position is a frustrating scenario after they lost 2 of 3 last week on home floor.
A week ago, Elora scored with about 5 minutes to go to beat the NorthStars 7-5.
Sunday afternoon, Owen Sound squandered a 4-2 lead in the 3rd and lost 5-4 to Point Edward.
In between, the Junior NorthStars did shade Far West leading Wallaceburg 5-4, but they’ll need to rack up points in short order to stay in the hunt.
Meanwhile, the Senior NorthStars were 2 & 1/2 minutes away from going to 3 & 0, but they surrendered 2 power play goals to the Six Nations Rivermen and ended up losing Saturday night 9-8 in overtime.
Owen Sound resumes play in Senior Lacrosse May 27th and 28th when they travel to Ennismore.
I’m Fred Wallace
