Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off The Wire ” brought to you by Owen Sound Springfest 55+ Games.
The Mississauga Steelheads lost 4-2 to the Sudbury Wolves last night to formally set all 8 of the Ontario Hockey League first round playoff matchups.
Here are the matchups & the predictions from a guy I know very well.
Let’s start in the East;
Peterborough-Niagara. The Petes will win the series, but it will be far tougher than most 1-8 pairings.
Mississauga-Ottawa. I like Mississauga to come out of the East, so it goes without saying they’ll dispatch the 67’s.
Oshawa-Sudbury . Can’t say I was a fan of the Oshawa selloff this year, so there’s a part of me that wants the Generals to go to the OHL Final and get beat 15-0 every night. They’ll win this series.
& Kingston-Hamilton. If the phase of the moon is right, I’ll go Bulldogs.
Now in the West;
Erie-Sarnia. The Otters will win, but wouldn’t you love this matchup if Chychrun, Konecny & Zacha still played at Sarnia ?
Sault Ste Marie-Flint. The Greyhounds quickly.
London-Windsor. Amazingly, a 90 point season will see the Spitfires on the sideline in short order but with plenty of time to prep for the Memorial Cup.
And Owen Sound-Kitchener…..we’ll talk about that on Friday.
I’m Fred Wallace
