Paid parking is coming to Tobermory.
Northern Bruce Peninsula council has approved a plan that will see 8 pay and display machines purchased this spring at a cost of 60 thousand dollars.
Drivers will have to pay to park in Tobermory from May 15th to October 15th.
Residents of the Village and renters will be able to get up to 2 parking passes for 2017 at no cost.
The plan calls for 3 dollar an hour fee in the 2 hour restricted parking areas.
There will be a daily 15 dollar flat fee in non-restricted parking areas.
Northern Bruce Peninsula expects to bring in roughly 150 thousand dollars during the season from the paid parking plan.
Municipal officials say the new revenue is in response to a boom in tourism on the Bruce Peninsula, and it will be used for costs associated with increased service levels for waste and recycling as well as additional washroom facilities.
