Kincardine has landed a new Family Physician.
Dr. Angela Cavanagh will open her medical practice in the Municipality in January of next year. (2018)
The Doctor Recruitment Committee says Cavanagh was born and raised in the Township of Huron-Kinloss.
In a news release, Kincardine officials say she is excited to be returning home.
Dr. Cavanagh completed her medical degree at Western University in London in 2015 and is finishing family medicine residency at Queens University at the Belleville/Quinte site.
She is the author of several publications in the journal Cartilage, as well as many published abstracts about osteoarthritis research done during her Masters degree at the University of Guelph.
Along with her husband and two daughters, Dr. Cavanagh likes to spend her time outdoors, camping, hiking and canoeing.
Mayor Anne Eadie, says she is thrilled to have another doctor coming to Kincardine.
The hiring of the new doctor was made possible by the Municipality of Kincardine physician recruitment program which is supported by partnerships that includes Bruce Power, Town of Saugeen Shores and the Society of Energy Professionals.
Earlier this week, Saugeen Shores announced a new doctor would be joining the Medical Clinic in March.
The new family practitioner will work full time in Southampton.
