Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire ” brought to you by your local Auto Logic….the LOGICAL CHOICE.
The Ontario Hockey League Trade window has re-opened in advance of the 2016-17 season.
The Owen Sound Attack aren’t expected to be particularly active, or at least that’s the stance they’ve taken publicly.
However, there is a buzz about that suggests a close eye needs to be kept on the Attack, and what transpires this month in terms of acquisitions will be telling.
In one direction, the source suggests that Owen Sound may be in the market to add a mid-age forward, not a star, but rather a capable player with OHL experience.
However, if Owen Sound should acquire a handful of draft picks first, it’s unlikely they’ll be dealing for a mid-age player but rather the acquisition of those draft picks would signal a much bigger deal for a much more prominent player is brewing.
In fairness, the source isn’t mentioning anyone by name, but the suspicion here is that the prominent player Owen Sound is targeting is Will Bitten of the Flint Firebirds, a player they’ve coveted at length.
Having said that, the stated intention of the Firebirds is to keep their best player in the fold.
So we’ll see what comes down the pipe in terms of an Attack trade ahead; a capable 18 year old forward ? A collection of draft picks ? Or none of the above ?
I’m Fred Wallace
