Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire ” brought to you by your local Auto Logic, the Logical Choice.
This year has been a very solid one for Owen Sound’s most prominent lacrosse teams.
The Coldwell Banker Junior NorthStars had a very competitive season, climaxing with an exciting playoff series against the Orangeville Northmen.
The Junior NorthStars announced their award winners recently with netminder Garrett Reed being selected as the MVP and Wyatt Barfoot getting the Playoff MVP award.
After a half decade of missing the playoffs, the 2016 NorthStars showed an awful lot of promise for the days ahead.
Meanwhile, the Senior NorthStars are locked in a great playoff series with the regular season champion Brooklin Merchants.
The Merchants won the opening game 10-5, but the NorthStars responded with an exciting 8-7 win in Game 2 on Sunday night at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre.
Tomorrow night, the Merchants have home floor again. The prevailing thought is that home floor in Brooklin is a positive factor for the Merchants, but the NorthStars know they have to win at least once there to take the series.
Game 4 in the best of 5 is a quick turnaround set for Saturday night at 7 pm back in Owen Sound where the NorthStars hope to get as supportive an audience, and maybe an even bigger audience, than they had for Game 2.
I’m Fred Wallace
