Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire ” brought to you by your local Auto Logic, the Logical Choice.
Both Box Lacrosse and Field Lacrosse are active in the city this weekend.
Tomorrow night, the Owen Sound NorthStars open the Ontario Senior Lacrosse Playoffs at Brooklin against the Merchants.
Brooklin won the regular season championship with a mark of 14 & 2.
Four of those 14 wins were head to head against Owen Sound, winning in sequence 16-10, 8-7 in overtime, 11-5 and 9-7.
The most memorable of those wins was the June 5th game in Owen Sound when the NorthStars failed to hold a 6-3 third period lead and ended up losing 8-7 in overtime on a last minute marker by Kyle O’Brien.
So after dropping all 4 regular season games, Owen Sound is the decided underdog for this series which begins tomorrow night at Brooklin
Game 2 is Sunday night at 6 pm at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre.
Outdoors this weekend, the Owen Sound Lady NorthStars are hosting a 2 day tournament for various age divisions.
This tournament is a crossover format which will determine the provincial rankings for Girls Field Lacrosse for 70 teams.
The Field Lacrosse tournament runs Saturday and Sunday at the Kiwanis Complex in the city
I’m Fred Wallace
