Hi this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire ” brought to you by your local Auto Logic, the Logical Choice.
I had an interesting question posed by a lacrosse fan this summer.
With more than a half dozen Owen Sounders playing Junior A Lacrosse, the question was, once their Junior A season concluded could those players return to Owen Sound and play for the Senior NorthStars.
Honestly, I didn’t know and in the last 15 years of Senior Woodsmen and NorthStars I couldn’t cite an example where that had happened, so I passed the query onto the Ontario Lacrosse Association.
Quickly the OLA replied saying a Junior A player cannot affiliate with a Senior B team. Junior A teams are affiliated with Major teams and Junior B players are affiliated with Senior B teams.
Moreover, Junior A players can reclassify to play with Junior B teams, the same as Major players can reclassify to play with Senior teams.
Interesting.
So the next question I have is, would it not make sense for junior aged players from Owen Sound to sign a Junior B card, play for the Jr NorthStars, play on an affiliate basis with a Junior A squad and still be eligible to play Senior later in the Summer ?
I’m Fred Wallace
