As we head towards the weekend, the Owen Sound Senior NorthStars head to a crucial showdown at Ennismore against the James Gang.
Currently, Owen Sound is third in the Ontario Senior Lacrosse Standings, sitting 2 points up on Ennismore who have played 1 less game than the NorthStars.
Ennismore will make that game up tonight when they visit Brooklin.
And while you’d expect Brooklin, with aspirations of finishing first in the league, to win this evening, nothing is ever for sure, so it’s possible the NorthStars and James Gang could be tied for third heading to their showdown.
And whomever gets third place, gets to face the winless Wallaceburg Thrashers in the opening round of the Senior Playoffs next week.
With no disrespect to Wallaceburg, on paper a matchup with the Thrashers is far more appealing than a date with Oakville who gave the NorthStars a good test before faltering on a power play midway through the 2nd period Sunday night in Owen Sound.
The Brooklin Merchants shoot for 1st place tonight.
The Ennismore James Gang shoot for a tie for 3rd place tonight
And then, come Saturday and Sunday, the James Gang and NorthStars go head to head with third place on the line in Senior Lacrosse.
