Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire ” brought to you by your local Auto Logic….the Logical Choice.
I know yesterday was a big day for the United States of America, but from a sporting standpoint, the weekend was terrific for Canadians.
The first leg of the Canadian Triple Crown, the Queen’s Plate at Woodbine, was won by Sir Dudley Digges, with the best part being the horse was a 15 to 1 long shot.
The second leg of our Triple Crown is July 26th at Fort Erie for the Prince of Wales Stakes.
Meanwhile in women’s golf, Brooke Henderson won again. The teenager from Smiths Falls won the Portland Classic for a second time, winning convincingly by 4 strokes.
At Wimbledon, Milos Raonic of Thornhill wavered but managed to rally to beat David Goffin to get to the quarterfinals
Ironically, the Blue Jays lost an amazing contest on Canada Day and then followed with back to back victories over the Cleveland Indians who had just won 14 in a row, and then for good measure on July 4th beat the Royals
America celebrated July 4th, but Canadians did pretty well on the occasion
I’m Fred Wallace
