Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire ” brought to you by your local Auto Logic, the Logical Choice.
The Owen Sound Coldwell Banker NorthStars face elimination tonight in the Junior B Lacrosse playoffs.
The Orangeville Northmen lead the best of 5 series 2 games to none and will be aiming for a first round sweep on home floor tonight.
Having said that, this series has been remarkably close when you consider Orangeville is the # 1 seed in the West, they’re coming off an 18 & 2 regular season and they are set to host the Founders Cup Canadian Championship Tournament later this Summer.
Going into the series, Owen Sound was the massive underdog.
That hasn’t changed one iota.
However, the Coldwell Banker NorthStars have made a definite statement in this series.
They fell behind 5-1 in the opener but closed the gap and made it tight before bowing 6-3.
Then in Game 2, in a 5-5 tie, Owen Sound was in a dominant sequence, recovering and maintaining possession of the ball on 3 straight scoring thrusts, forcing Orangeville into a penalty……and then on the power play, Owen Sound was penalized which created a 4 on 4 scenario where Riley Thompson scored the winner in a 6-5 Orangeville victory.
Such has been the tiny margin between the # 1 and # 8 seeds in this series and if the NorthStars can find a way to reverse the trend, they might force a 4th game in the series Thursday night back at the JD McArthur Arena
