Hi this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire ” brought to you by your local Auto Logic, the Logical Choice.
The Owen Sound Lacrosse community was buzzing with activity over the weekend.
Most notably, the annual Owen Sound Minor Lacrosse Tournament climaxed on Father’s Day with 5 divisional championship games.
Based on the reaction of the winners in Tyke through Midget, this event carries ample meaning to the participants…and has for close to 30 years.
The sole drawback was that no Owen Sound teams qualified for Championship Sunday, but that’s something to shoot for in 2017.
Next, I was quite happy for the Owen Sound Coldwell Banker Junior B NorthStars who qualified for the post season for the first time in 6 years.
Truthfully, I was happiest for the executive members and parental support structure that has kept this team operational.
Make no mistake, the Junior NorthStars are massive underdogs in their playoff series with Orangeville. However, getting to the post season is a nice reward for everyone connected to the team.
And finally, I was asked an interesting question on the weekend about eligibility for Senior Lacrosse, that is the Senior NorthStars, once the Junior A season concludes.
We don’t have time to get into everything that’s involved, but it was an intriguing question and certainly an intriguing answer.
I’m Fred Wallace
