Meaford’s Foodland store is closing this summer.
Franchise owner Bob Topham says he will be looking for work, along with some 20 employees, once the store closes on August 6th.
Topham wouldn’t go into details on the decision to close, referring those questions to the Sobeys Public Relations spokesperson Vicki Leung.
She tells Bayshore Broadcasting News they are still catering to Foodland and Sobeys shoppers in Thornbury, Markdale and Owen Sound.
Bob Topham is originally from Port Elgin.
He ran the Meaford Foodland for 12 years and prior to that was the Assistant Store Manager in Wiarton for 13 years, and worked in Southampton for six years.
No word on what the building will be used for, once Foodland is gone.
