Hi this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire ” brought to you by your local Auto Logic, the Logical Choice.
A couple of lacrosse notes today.
First of all, in a rare Wednesday night match, the Owen Sound Coldwell Banker Junior NorthStars host Guelph tonight.
The clock is ticking on the NorthStars who trying to reach the post season for the first time since 2010.
With 5 games remaining in the regular season, Owen Sound enters the game desperately needing a victory to try and secure a Wild Card spot in the West.
Guelph is just 2 points in front of Owen Sound, so the result tonight will go a long way in determining who does and who doesn’t advance.
Game time for the Regals and Junior NorthStars is 8 pm
Friday, the Senior NorthStars are on the road to Six Nations to face the Rivermen for the final time in the regular season.
The Senior Stars dropped both home games last weekend and face a stiff challenge tonight against a powerful Rivermen entry.
And finally, Saturday in Hanover, the town is hosting a Lacrosse Day highlighted by a Junior C contest between the Wilmot Wild and the Shelburne Vets.
From 4-6 pm Saturday, anyone who would like to experience lacrosse can come on the floor and give it a try.
At 6, the Wild and Vets will hit the floor for their warmup, followed by the game at 7.
The hope is a successful Lacrosse Day may lead to increased floor usage in Hanover, a minor program perhaps, a Junior program perhaps, and maybe create an environment in which athletes from Hanover and area may take up lacrosse and venture out to Junior C, Junior B or Junior A centres.
I’m Fred Wallace
