Hi this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire ” brought to you by your local Auto Logic, the Logical Choice.
The Owen Sound Attack Awards Barbeque was staged on the weekend.
The primary topic of discussion continues to be the playoff victories over London; Owen Sound being the last team, and the only team, to beat the Knights in the post season.
That’s all well and good, something to be proud of, no question, but to me it’s of little consolation now and in fact is ancient history.
What counts most is what’s ahead for the OHL club and, as always, there’s plenty of unknowns this far from next season.
From Attack General Manager Dale DeGray;
1) There’s unlikely to be any significant trades before August, and even then, he feels he’s got very few holes to fill.
and 2) With what I see as a glut of overage candidates league wide, DeGray is fairly set on his candidates internally.
Also, at one point, the top priority was, and likely still is, to find a capable assistant, or assistants, for coach Ryan McGill; coaches who can run the club for potentially a month or more in the event that McGill lands a position with Hockey Canada for an international opportunity sometime in the future.
I’m Fred Wallace
